Sunday, 10 May: Two enormous, Wedge-tailed eagles, sitting on a fence beside the freeway
I’m Phoebe, and I make sounds that help people settle their nervous systems - sometimes it’s amplified and live looped, sometimes it’s using acoustic instruments. I also love photography and bad jokes. IKSRE stands for I Keep Seeing Rainbows Everywhere 🌈
There’s a few things that I mark in my calendar when I get my new, yearly (paper) diary.
Birthdays. Anniversaries. Long weekends. School holidays.
And Eurovision.
cue canned laughter
I’m serious. In our house, Eurovision is almost bigger than Christmas. Seriously. IYKYK.
I feel like there’s three camps of you guys right now, reading this.
The Uninitiated: You’re shrugging your shoulders with zero interest, and probs about to close and delete the email. Please don’t. I’d love to enlighten you.
The Traumatised: You’re cringing with memories of your parents forcing you to watch it as a kid. I see you. But give it another go. I promise.
The Tragics: You’re already humming the theme song to yourself with a huge grin on your face as you count down the moments til you watch semi final 1. Note: please no spoilers, I’ll be waiting til the weekend to watch them.
For those of you in the first two categories, let me highlight some of the reasons why this is the (other), most wonderful time of the year.
The laffs.
The theatrics
The voices (and staging)
The costumes (or lack thereof)
Genuinely, great songs
And this guy again. Full song this time.
Any show that can make you laugh, cry, and astounded at someone’s vocals or dance moves, has to be pretty special.
So you’re still reading, you’re clearly a fan, or I’ve convinced you to watch it this weekend. Can’t wait to hear what your fav bits were.
Gigs + Sound Baths coming up: Given I marked this date in my calendar 6 months ago, I won’t be doing any sound baths this weekend. But you can find me at Warrior One Mornington next Sunday 24 May and Grass Roots St Kilda on Sunday 31 May. Book/info
You can also join me for my free monthly online session on 27 May - if you can’t make it at the time, still be sure to register here as I’ll send everyone a link to stream it afterwards. Next month I might try and do an earlier one for my Stateside friends.
And Hobart. Put Winter Solstice 21 June in your diary. More to come… :)
Til next week, friends x

There's a Eurovision theme song?? I've been watching for years and can't recall it (but then only a span of five days once per year means my ADHD brain has focused on so much new stuff since last year that I've forgotten everything except how bad last the Aussie entry was, lol).
Say hi to the Wedge-tails.
Cheers, Nola
